imported to the United States by Williams-Sonoma. 1981-1983 Four
Il Fornaio bakeries open in California. 1983 Williams-Sonoma sells
Il Fornaio (America) Corp. to group of private investors. 1985
Annual revenues approach $6 million with a net loss of $580,000. 1987
Larry Mindel acquires Il Fornaio, leads opening of first Il Fornaio Cucina Italiana
(restaurant and bakery) in Corte
Madera (Marin County) California. 1988-1995 Il Fornaio opens
11 restaurants with bakeries in California.
Fornaio Baking Book Published by Chronicle Books. 1995
Mike Hislop joins Il Fornaio as President and COO.
1995 Festa Regionale,
a company-wide monthly celebration of the bread, food and wine of a different
region of Italy, begins
1996 Il Fornaio opens in Las Vegas, Nevada,
and expands eastward to Denver, Colorado. First wholesale bakery and training
facility, Accademia del Fornaio, opens in Burlingame, California.
Il Fornaio completes initial public offering at $11 per share, raising $16.5 million,
becomes publicly traded on NASDAQ. 1998 Il Fornaio opens in Seattle,
Washington, and Walnut Creek, California.
Ristorante Veneto opens at The Venetian Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Jan Schat,
Il Fornaio's Director of Baking, wins the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie
(World Cup of Baking) in Paris. The 3-person American team captures 1st place
for the first time in history of the event, held every three years at Europain.
2000 Company reports $124 million in revenues, $3.8 million in
net income for fiscal 2000. ll Fornaio opens 23rd restaurant and bakery in Henderson,
Nevada at Green

Canaletto A restaurant
focusing on the food and wine of the Veneto region of Italy at The Venetian Resort,
Hotel and Casino opened in Las Vegas in June of 1999.
A quick service restaurant featuring a selection of risotto, pasta, and gnocchi
priced under $10. Risottoria opened in November of 1998 in Seattle.
